Sarah Palin’s political career has been a successful one

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

Sarah Palin may well be the stereotypical Republican: she supports the NRA, she hunts, is extremely religious, believes that creationism should be taught in our schools, and is definitely against abortion and same sex marriages. Her happy go lucky looks bely the extremely convicted person that lies beneath. Sarah Palin does not back down and she does not give in.

While Sarah Palin’s views may seem a little extreme to some, there is something to be said – and nobody can deny this – of a politician that sticks to her guns (literally, in this case), believes what she fights for, and believes what she fights for. Impressive qualities.

The energy crisis is on everyone’s mind and Sarah Palin knows this. She advocates exploration in her native Alaska; a pragmatic approach that might not find a great deal of support just yet, but may become more popular as we begin to rely more and more on Russian and Middle Eastern oil to meet our demands.

Climate change, too, is on Sarah Palin’s mind, and whilst she will not be drawn on the causes of global warming – there isn’t enough evidence – she does conclude that something absolutely have to be done.

There is something for everyone to admire in this hockey mom of five.

Ares I will carry the Orion shuttle into orbit

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

NASA plan to take people into space in 2015. The launch of the upcoming Orion shuttle will be powered by the Ares I rocket; both are components of the space giant’s upcoming Constellation Program. The project was originally due to complete and launch in 2013, but after a series of unexpected set backs (what set backs are not unexpected?) a new date of 2015 has been recently announced. Bad news for anyone wanting to see the Ares rocket power into the skies, but ultimately good news for the crew of the Orion shuttle: NASA are at least taking security as a priority over good press exposure and timely launches which has not always been the case.

Progress is ongoing, though: a team of some 1100 experts have recently completely a hideously thorough design review on the Ares rocket, and it seems to have largely gone okay. Ares is not out of the trees yet, though, and there are still to be a vast number of reviews to be undergone and technical challenges to be met before anyone will think about starting to fabricate parts.

These are exciting times for any fans of space travel and NASA. The next few years will be critical to the success or failure of Ares and the Constellation Program.

G1 Downloads and Apps

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

The google phone G1 has been released with android operating system and the verdict is not out yet. However, the upside for this phone is much and far more reaching then the iPhone or any other smart phone in its category, the reason being that its open source and its full potential is yet to be unleashed. For the same reason that Firefox is a much better browser then Internet Explorer. Because whenever you bring the developer community to the mix in developing applications and gadgets with an open source product and at the same time gets the backing from a company like Google, which encourages free mind and openness creativity is bound to happen and when that happens its compelling. The G1 however will need the 700 mHz spectrum to operate freely, because the phone network is still predominantly controlled by the phone companies and they still control what gets transmitted and what does not get transmitted. So, that is one more hurdle that needs to get overcome before we are truly free. However, iPhone seemed like it did not have a competitor and finally a company as big as google had to comeup with an answer. G-one is will not be gone any time soon, its just the beginning, take a seat and sit back to watch the show , because it going to be a good one and transform how we carry our business from day to day.

Control Your Media Experience with Slingbox AV and save $10

iPhone Tv is in works and their is news that apple wants to release an app for iPhone TV via Wi-Fi as the EDGE network is not sufficient enough band width. Sling Media is one company that has created a lot of buzz lately in regards to this news. Sling Media already has a Sling Client to delivering TV over phones, not yet over iPhone, this will soon happen once Apple lets them use their proprietary SDK to develop an integration of their Sling Box onto iPhone and Slings CEO is mentioned to have approached apple to just get that materialized . If you have a Jail Broken iPhone you can download their software and watch your TV from your Sling Box at home. The obvious catch is that you need to have a sling box at home to pair up your iPhone to its respective client. Its only the next logical progression to be able to view TV over your iPhone. Once phones get their miniature projectors included in them you can also satisfy your bigger screen version of TV on the Go!! Sling is known to deliver good products , the only catch is that it takes awfully long time for them to deliver their Buzz in to reality, which is not too much to pay for a good product.

Salvia Divinorum’s reputation has rocketed

Monday, September 1st, 2008

I had seen a friend of mine get really, really high on salvia. A few moments later he was back on planet Earth but for a while there he was away with the pixies. Literally. My friend had acute hallucinations and actually believed that he was seeing a pink fairy dancing around the room with a pink fairy dog on a leash. This was all happening to the strains of the drum and bass we had on in the background and, he says, she was a very effective mover.

So then it was my turn. I’d never done salvia divinorum before and I didn’t appreciate just how effective its effects were. I’d expected to see Tinkerbell the dancing fairy too. I was quite excited by the prospect, if truth be told. But I didn’t get that at all. What I felt was like nothing I’d expected.

It started off with just a strange hazy feeling from smoking salvia . When the Salvia really started to kick in I was sure I was falling off my chair; except I was convinced I was falling upwards and a little to the left. Once I’d got to grips with this perceived movement I noticed that I was looking down on myself and watching from a distance. Eventually I merged back into my own body and I quickly came-to in the land of the living.

My friend asked if the pink fairy and her dog had been up to their old tricks. I said they were looking forward to seeing him again.
